SOMETHING TO PONDER FOR THE FUTURE

by spiritbird @ 10. Feb 2008 - 20:54:08

At my age you start to wonder about things like what music would I like for my funeral (morbid devil) I do not plan on going just yet but a couple of recent blogs did set me thinking. On entry to the crem. Eva Cassidy, Somewhere over the rainbow. When all are seated Celine Dion, Fly. This would be followed by a short eulogy written by me beforehand, then Elvis, I'll remember you. Thank you for coming and on the way out, Elvis, My Way. No pious vicar who never met me saying how good I was when I was alive. No prayers and sermons. Just what I have stipulated. After all said and done it will be my funeral, I think it should be how I want it, even if I'm not there.

when i go the music will be monty python's always look on the bright side of life and my daughter will read what was read for my father

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little--but not too long
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared,
Miss me--but let me go.

For this is a journey that we all must take
And each must go alone.
It's all a part of the Master's plan,
A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss Me--But Let me Go!

Yes spirit, I also believe that there is a place for other than hymns at a funeral service. At my wifes service I had played "Can't Help Falling In Love With You", Elvis, the song that I always did first at our karaoke nights, and " Put You Together Again" by Hot Chocolate.
