i like his music and have a couple of CD's but I have no intention of panic buying his back catalogue at stupid prices, neither will I be doing any of the remembrance things.
I acknowledge he was a huge popstar in his time but its been a while since the man was known for his music. I hope his famiy can find peace.
My sentiments entirely, why can the same publicity not be afforded Audry Hepburn, who has succumbed to that which takes us all eventually or the woman, another celebrity ex Charlies Angels gal? The media hype is being fuelled by someone, the sensationalism over his passing significantly over rated and the tragedy really lies in that a father lost a son, brothers and sisters a sibling. Many many more encounter the same but are spared the heartache of speculation by the mulititudes.
Personally I am no fan of his work, however I applaud him for the impact that he made, and the avenues he carved for others to take within the music world and his pioneering ground breaking. It is a tragedy he lacked to character to sustain it though.

You will not be alone in your sentiments! There are many others, like you, in the world! I've never been enamoured by either him or his music...though I would respect the others for whom his death will be quite traumatic -- even though, I cannot understand......
